Henderson Land Development Company Limited (“Henderson Land” or “the Group”) (Stock code: 12), one of Hong Kong’s leading property groups, today announced that its highly anticipated commercial development at Murray Road, Central, will be named The Henderson.
Set to become an “icon amongst icons”, this unprecedented project—which established the world record for the most valuable land plot in 2017—will be developed into a 465,000-square-foot super Grade-A office tower designed by the world-renowned architectural firm Zaha Hadid Architects (“ZHA”).
Announcing the official name of the project, Mr. Lee Ka Shing, Martin, Chairman of Henderson Land Group, said: “The name we have chosen—The Henderson—underpins our ambition for this significant new development to rank eminently amongst the world’s most admired urban architectural landmarks, with sustainability and innovation at its core.”

Located adjacent to Hong Kong Park and Chater Garden in the city’s CBD, The Henderson is ZHA’s first commercial project in Hong Kong. With its curvy built form, which is a signature design of ZHA, The Henderson echoes the organic beauty of the natural world, reinterpreting the structural forms and layering of a Bauhinia bud about to blossom. This architectural marvel, once completed, will enhance and embellish Hong Kong’s overall cityscape.
The Henderson’s sculptural, curved glass façade—the first of its kind in Hong Kong—epitomises the cutting-edge building design and construction technologies used by the Group in its development, and is made possible by the bespoke four-ply double-curved, resilient architectural glass manufactured in Germany and Spain. The unparalleled craftsmanship and precision of the façade will enhance the seamless connectivity between the building’s interiors and the surrounding gardens and beyond.
The Henderson, which is expected to be completed in 2023, has already received numerous awards and accolades, including Platinum Pre-certification in both WELL Building Standard (WELL) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). Upon completion, this iconic landmark will further strengthen Henderson Land’s portfolio of investment properties.
