Henderson Land Development Company Limited (“Henderson Land” or “the Group”) (Stock code: 12) welcomed the first batch of tenants into The Henderson, a new iconic landmark for Hong Kong and a super Grade-A commercial development nestled in the heart of Central. The Group also announced its plans to create the first sculpture park by Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) in the public space outside the iconic building, as an extension of ZHA’s design of The Henderson.
The Henderson has already been secured by world-renowned industry-leading firms as tenants, including Christie’s, a world-leading art and luxury auction business setting up its new Asia-Pacific headquarters in the building; Carlyle, a leading global investment firm; and Audemars Piguet, a Swiss fine watchmaking manufacturer. Dr Martin Lee Ka-shing, Chairman of Henderson Land Group, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the first batch of tenants into The Henderson upon the opening of our flagship project. Embodying world-class architectural craftsmanship, the project enriches the urban landscape of Central and Hong Kong. Weaving together elements of art, innovation and sustainability, The Henderson has not only set a new benchmark for future Grade-A smart offices but also reaffirmed the Group’s confidence in the development of Hong Kong.”
The Henderson is the first commercial project designed by ZHA in Hong Kong. The team is going to extend the curvilinear design of the building to the surrounding Lambeth Walk Rest Garden, creating the first sculpture park by ZHA in Asia. Currently undergoing enhancement works, the project will introduce art installations upon completion to provide a unique green recreational space for the community.
By blending art, innovation and sustainability, The Henderson strives to offer a superior, smart office experience to its tenants. The office lobby located on the third floor features the Balloon Swan (Red) sculpture by internationally acclaimed contemporary artist Jeff Koons. As the first Balloon Swan displayed in Asia, the artwork serves as an indoor continuation of the building’s architectural aesthetics. Meanwhile, the glass rooftop banquet hall on the 39th floor is the highest structure of its kind in Hong Kong, with a suite of hospitality services on offer.
A new sustainable office landmark in Hong Kong, The Henderson is committed to helping its tenants realise their corporate social responsibility goals. So far, the project has already garnered a number of international awards and accolades such as SmartScore, Wiredscore, the WELL Building Standard (WELL), and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The Group also snatched the Business Leadership in Sustainability Award at the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) Asia Pacific Leadership in Green Building Awards for The Henderson.
